P1 have been busy in the outdoor construction area. There was lots of team work, negotiation and collaboration to construct some haunted houses.
Lots of maths through pumpkins this week. We compared size and shape, ordering pumpkins from biggest to smallest. We cut one in half and looked at the seeds inside. We estimated how many we could see and then used ten frames to help us find out how many seeds there were! After that we painted spooky faces on our pumpkins!
We have been investigating patterns. We looked at the artist James Brunt who uses patterns to make art in nature. We found different patterns around our school and used cubes to make repeating patterns
A fantastic start to maths week playing math games with our P7 buddies!
Team work and collaboration when playing parachute games!
We have been building conceptual images of 5 and developing our 1-1 correspondence in maths!
It was great to get our puddlesuits on and get muddy on the trim trail!
We have been playing number bingo and number spinners to develop our perceptual subitising skills. We have also been noticing and comparing smaller and bigger.
We have been using magnetic tiles and playing 'Fred's Fridge' to learn how to blend sounds into words.
