May/June
LITERACY
In May & June we are learning to:
- recite rhymes and poems
- listen to and follow instructions
- take turns in conversations and discussions
- Spell CVC words e.g., hat, box, sit etc.
- Spell VCC words e.g., ant, ask, and etc.
- Spell CVCC words e.g., hand, last, jump etc.
- Read and spell High Frequency words
- Read and spell multi-syllabic words
- Read and spell sounds represented by more than one letter for e.g.
ay& a_e, igh&y, er&ir,o&oo&ew etc.
- Identify and suggest rhyming words
- Continue to use ‘Inference’ during reading tasks.
- Write sentences with full stops, capital letters,question marks and explanation marks
- Begin our story writing as part of the Narrative writing genre.
NUMERACY
In May & June we are learning to:
- Count forwards and backwards within 20/50/100
- Recognise, read and write numbers within 20/50/100
- Add and subtract within 10/20/30
- Identify 2d and 3d shapes
- Identify coins
- Make amounts of money (coins)
- Give change
- Develop an understanding of 'light' and 'heavy’
- Develop an understanding of ‘short’ and ‘long’
- Help to create / complete a graph
- Read information from a graph
- Tell the time (analogue)
- Solve word problems based on what we learn.
PROBLEM SOLVING
Our focus for May /June is: ‘Guess, Check and Improve’.
