DAILY - RMeasimaths

 

MENTAL MATHS - daily

  • Rote counting forwards from 0-5 and 0-10, 0-20 / 0-30 and beyond.
  • Rote count backwards from 30-0, 20-0,10-0. Try 40-0 etc. 
  • Add 1 to numbers within 5, 10, 15, 20 / beyond.

 

Throughout the week try the following:

PRACTICAL

  • Sequence all of your digit cards forwards.
  • Sequence all of your digit cards backwards.

 

FOCUS: W.A.L.T. Order a selection of numbers forwards / backwards.

Ask an adult to set out a selection of your digit cards in groups of 3 or more, for example 3, 5, 4. Order these numbers forwards, 3, 4, 5 and then backwards 5, 4, 3. Try the following numbers and then an adult can choose more if they wish. (1, 3, 2), (6, 8, 7), (8, 10, 9), (3, 5, 4, 6, 8, 7), (11, 13, 12), (14, 16, 17, 15, 18, 19, 20).

Reinforce by playing the following game. Go to Useful links and click on game ‘Caterpillar Ordering’ ‘Sequencing’ ‘Counting in Ones’ 1 to 10, 10 to 1, 0 to 100 / 100 to 0’

Ask an adult to set out a selection of random digit cards in groups of 3 or more, for example 3, 4, 1. Order these numbers forwards, 1, 3, 4. Try the following numbers and then an adult can choose more if they wish. (1, 3, 9), (6, 11, 7), (18, 10, 9), (4, 5, 9), (11, 16, 12), (4, 16, 7, 15, 1, 9, 10). 

Reinforce this by playing the following game. Go to Useful links and click on game ‘Caterpillar Ordering’ ‘Ordering’ ‘Forwards’ 1 to 5, 1 to 10, 1 to 20 / 1 to 100’.

Try the following numbers and then an adult can choose more if they wish. (1, 3, 9), (6, 11, 7), (18, 10, 9), (4, 5, 9), (11, 16, 12), (4, 16, 7, 15, 1, 9, 10).

  • Make lists of numbers ‘before’ / ‘after’ 15. (numbers within 30).
