High Frequency Words to read and spell
January-February
We will be focusing on:
Literacy: Non-Chronological Report writing - structure, layout, heading, sub-headings, paragraphs, diagrams,
High Frequency words - spelling correctly in written work
Prefixes and suffixes - lock - unlock, kind- unkind, walk - walked, jump - jumped, hop - hopping
Understanding what they read - answer questions, give opinions, look for clues...
Identifying speech marks, commas and apostrophes when reading. P4 - Begin to use these correctly in their writing.
Revising nouns, verbs, adjectives. Sentence structure,
Numeracy: Mental Maths, times tables, revision of simple addition/subtraction, word problems, use of strategies to solve questions, fractions - 1/2, 1/4 (and beyond) of shapes and quantities. Measuring with cubes and rulers. Revisit Time.
