Daily check in from Miss Hoy

19th April - Good morning boys and girls. Today is the second Sunday of Easter and also the Feast of the Divine Mercy.  You are great at saying our school prayer. Maybe you could say an extra prayer of your choice for all healthcare professionals, patients and all key workers.

Today is also Primrose Day in London. When you go out for a walk try to find some primroses. Enjoy your day. heart

18th April - It’s Saturday again boys and girls! Where did the past five weeks go?? surprise I hope you make the most of today but my wish for you is to be happy and safe. Enjoy! heart

17th April - Good morning boys and girls. I hope you are well. Today I’d like you to say a wee prayer and light a candle for your friends and relatives who live in different countries. I’m praying for my relatives who live in New Zealand and England plus my friends in Scotland and England. I’m also remembering your classmate Esme who went to live in England in December. I hope she and her family are all safe and well.

Enjoy your day. Stay safeheart

16th April - Good morning boys and girls. The weather is absolutely glorious. It's very hot, so I hope you are wearing sun cream when you go out into your garden! smiley

Today is the feast day of St. Bernadette. If we were in school today I would be telling you about her. Here's just a little bit. She was christened Marie-Bernard Soubirous but from childhood she was called Bernadette. She was a shepherd girl. When she was 14 years old, Our Lady, Jesus' mummy appeared to her, many times, at the rock of Massabielle near Lourdes in France. Lourdes is a very famous Marian shrine and people from all over the world go there to pray. I went there in 1998 with two of my friends. It was truly, a wonderful experience.

Do you know anyone called Bernadette? Maybe you could say a wee prayer for them.

Have a lovely day boys and girls! Take care. heart

15th April - Good morning everyone!  Today is World Art Day. This date was chosen in honour of Leonardo da Vinci (the artist who painted the ‘Last Supper’). He was born a very long time ago, on 15th April 1452. smiley

You are all little artists boys and girls. Maybe you could show off your creativity today. Paint a picture of anything you like and if possible send a photograph of it into school. Have fun. heart

14th April - Good morning boys and girls-how are you this morn?

I loved looking at all your Easter crafts-you are very creative! Well done to Kiera for winning the ‘Friends of St. Colman’s’ draw!  yes
In school we made a variety of cards for different occasions this year. Maybe you could make some 'thank you' cards to send to people who gave you Easter eggs. mail

P.S. Just a wee bit of history. At nearly midnight on 14th April 1912 a very famous ship called the Titanic hit an iceberg. Titanic was built by Harland and Wolff in Belfast. You can see their giant cranes Samson and Goliath when you drive through Belfast. Have you been to Titanic Belfast? I've been twice -lots to see and do - so much that I'd need to go back again.  Maybe one day!laugh

We are living through history at the minute boys and girls. Stay safe. heart

13th April. Good morning boys and girls. It’s Easter Monday! Did you enjoy yesterday? I had a lovely day. Have you many eggs left??

I noticed that some of you have already been baking. I’m very impressed! yes

I plan to bake this week but today I’m going to start by making Rice Krispie squares - very quick and easy! I’m using an old recipe that my sister and I used as children. The ingredients are: chocolate, 2-3 Mars bars, butter and Rice Krispies. Can you guess what the method is? I’ll give you a few clues-I don’t use bun papers and the chocolate goes on at the end! laugh

There are lots of ways to use up your Easter eggs-if you’ve any more ideas I’d love to hear about them.

Have a great day everyone. Stay safe. heart

12th April-It’s Easter Sunday boys and girls! Did you have eggs for breakfast this morn?laugh

Today, Christians around the world celebrate Jesus rising from the dead. They send cards, give chocolate eggs and usually go to Church. Unfortunately we cannot go to mass but thanks to modern technology we can watch it via webcams in the comfort and safety of our own homes. If you check out our Grow in Love section you will see some activities related to this.

All your Easter cards and crafts were amazing! I made a little chick! Did you have an egg hunt?  I used to love this part about Easter. We had a tradition of boiling real eggs in a pan along with a teabag to make them go dark brown. Then when they were cold we decorated them, used them for an egg hunt and last of all we rolled them down a hill! It was great fun!laugh

I hope you all have a lovely day. Remember to say a wee prayer of thanks and don’t eat all your eggs at once!

God bless. heart
